hey rockers. with regards to previous post, 525 is a real good sample format converter for 68xxx machines, and will happily convert from wav to whatever :) you should be able to pick this up on all the atari ftp sites. BTW, Tao, your MS 4 stuff sounds awesome. is that really straight out the back of an STE?!

STupid&addicted, If you wanna convert WAV -> SPL there are several ways to do it. Many of the later Atari sample editors allow importing of WAV files, for instance SoundLab. Or use a PC sample editor to save the files as 8bit raw sample data. You will have to change wether this data is signed or unsigned depending on your Atari program (the sound when the sample is played is fine or it is just noise). FastTracker for PC will also allow you to save raw sample data. If you need more help send me an email gwEm

About "Sid Sound Designer", do you know if the file format is described somewhere, and if there is a well commented (in english (or french !)) replay source code somewhere, and even better if a C player exists ? I tried to get someone using SonixEd to produce music for the oric, but I have to consider it's a lost battle, because Sonix is too weird to use. So my next idea is to try to make a 6502 player to play SSD musics, does it feel doable ? All I need is a good description of how the musics are done, and the "formulas" used for effects (portamentos, vibrato, ...) in order to make the 6502 code to play them.
